Information On Packaging And Shipping PCBs

by Frances Gardner

There are so many uses for printed circuit boards (PCBs). They are used in medical devices, smart devices, security system devices, computers, appliances, smoke detectors, vehicle components, military defense equipment like radar jamming systems, and much more. PCBs need to be packaged for shipping correctly, or they can be damaged and become useless. Here is advice on packaging and shipping PCBs to ensure that they make it safely to their destination:

Choose the best packing materials for PCBs with and without batteries

The first step to making sure the PCBs make it to where they are going in good condition is choosing the best materials to secure them with.

Take the boards that have batteries, and package each one in an anti-static bag to ensure the battery will be fine. The PCBs without batteries should be packaged using aluminum foil. This will protect them from outside interference. After protecting them with the anti-static bags and the foil, you want to put them in a box filled with packing peanuts to protect them from physical damage during transport.

Use boxes that are going to offer protection

You want to choose boxes that are thick and give you plenty of space for the boards and the packing materials. Thicker boxes will be more difficult to damage. If the box does get damaged, then the circuit boards will also be at risk of getting damaged. The boxes should be labeled as fragile. This can be done with tape, a sticker, or a stamp. However, the word "fragile" should be in red.

Make sure the boxes are full

When you put the packing peanuts and the PCBs in the boxes, make sure the packing peanuts go all the way to the top of the box. If you don't do this, then there is a greater chance that the circuit boards will move around and arrive damaged. Also, the circuit boards should be more in the center of the box not toward the top or bottom. This way, they will have packing peanuts all around them.

Use the same shipping carrier

You want to continue using the same shipping carrier when you find one that gets your circuit boards to their destination quickly and in great condition. When you continue with the same carrier, you will already know that they can be counted on to transport them without issue.

About Me

Manufacturing For Modern Needs

These days, manufacturing and processing is a lot different than it was in years past, which is why a focus on manufacturing is so important for people to understand. I have learned that by understanding more about manufacturing, I feel more closely connected to the products and services I use each and every day. I wanted to start a brand new blog that centered around modern manufacturing, so that other people could learn just as much as I have. Read more on this blog to learn what you need to know to enjoy top-notch services each and every single day.
