Hire a Contractor That Can Insert Steel Girders in Your Walls

You will have to find a contractor who has experience with using steel in residential structures. He or she also has to have the knowledge and the skills to place steel girders in the walls of your home effectively. This type of project is often a skill that contractors like to advertise, so start your search with steel construction contractors and work your way through a contractor list from there.

The Contractor's Crew Strips Your House to the "Bones"

In the first phase of this process, the contractor and his/her crew remove all of the siding from your home. Then all of the sheet insulation under that is removed to expose the wood stud boards, which are the "bones" of your house. With all of the wood stud boards exposed, the real work begins.

All Stud Boards Are Gradually Replaced with Steel Girders

Very slowly and very carefully, the construction crew works to remove vertical stud boards, one by one. The remaining horizontal wood boards are bolted to the vertical steel girders. This process continues until steel girders replace all of the vertical wooden stud boards. Then the contractor utilizes a different form of insulation board to cover the steel prior to placing the siding back onto your house.

If a Scan of Your House Were Performed, It Would Show Lots of Steel

Newer houses built with residential steel have steel skeletal structures with no wood at all. In your case, your house is already built, so to reinforce it, only the vertical stud boards are replaced with steel girders. In either case, a scan of your home would reveal a lot of steel

The steel girders you just had implanted into your house braces the house against powerful windows.
